Happy NaNoWriMo!!

It’s November 1st – and you know what that means.  Yes, you have a massive sugar hangover from the night before.  And you are now trying to plan the next two major holidays as the countdown accelerates.  The stores got a massive head start on you by decorating for Christmas in September.

So of course I could expect you to be bored and looking for something to do like… write a 50,000 novel in only one month.  Welcome to NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month.

I’m not sure which of my crazed writer friends introduced this to me, but for the past few years I’ve dreamt of giving this a try.  Prior excuses included: I don’t have any good ideas, I started too late to catch up, I lost my pen…

This year I’m ready.  Having read both the Twilight series and the 50 shades, I realized good ideas don’t matter (before you lecture first I believe brain junk food has it’s purpose – and second I read all of the books in each series – and – third, worse yet, I had no idea they were related until after I complained that they both were awful in the same way… but I digress..).

I’ve loaded an app (A Novel Idea) on my phone and ipad – so lack of paper and pen don’t matter.  Oh and this glorious app will keep track of my word count for me!!  And today is day one…  Word Count is: Zero

Ok so I’m a little far behind on my 1667 words for the day.  I wonder if the 320 or so that I’ve written here can count towards that somehow.  One of my life goals is ISBN with my name attached to it.  If it’s going to happen, I have to start somewhere.  And I have always loved a good challenge. So maybe now I’ll quit stalling, finish this post and open that app…

If you wish to be a writer, write.
